Welcome to Parenting in Process
I am Becky! I am an early childhood educator turned stay at home parent.
As a Kindergarten teacher for 6 years, my wonderful co-teacher and I worked to transform our school’s program into one that fully embraced play and developmentally appropriate practice. We often tried to push the limits of what our school would allow, advocating for children’s right to learn the way they are made to - through play!
In advocating for children at our school, I learned so much about child development, children’s play, behaviors, and more. Through this process, I fell in love with child development, soaking up every bit of parenting, play, and early education information I could get my hands on.
After my daughter was born in February 2021, my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to be home with her together for the first 6 months. (He is also a Kindergarten teacher, and timing worked out perfect with leave and summer!) I absolutely loved being home with her and getting to apply what I knew about children to my own parenting.
While I absolutely loved being in the classroom, I decided to leave teaching to stay home with our daughter. But I felt a call to begin sharing my early childhood knowledge and passion for child development with other parents.
And so...Parenting in Process was born.
I truly believe that when we are able to understand children and their development, we can really show up as the best parents for our kiddos. When we are starting with a strong base of good information, we are able to be intentional in the choices we are making as parents while also leaning in to our intuition about what our children need.
My goal is to provide you with the information you need to inspire and empower you to approach parenting with intention all while giving you the confidence to trust your own intuition.
