Children Deserve More Than Tolerance

Tolerance can't be our goal. Learning to "deal with" children can't be the goal. Learning how to "handle" them can't be the goal. Children deserve far more than that.

They are full human beings just as they are. Full stop.

That means that we shouldn't just be trying to figure out how to deal with them, how to handle them, or how to tolerate their behaviors. They deserve to be treated with the full respect that you would treat any adult (or better yet, the respect of an adult that you love and cherish).

Getting curious about children's behaviors and learning about their developments can empower us to move from tolerance to understanding. And when we seek to understand, we are more likely to see and respect our children for who they are.
