“Being With” Your Kiddo

Being with your child involves much more than just staying close by. The goal is to provide a safe space for them to feel their feelings (which is a lot easier said than done).

It requires you to stay fully present. Seek to understand. You have to learn to be okay with all feelings so you don’t get overwhelmed by them.

You job is to provide a safe and calm base for your child to be able to express their emotions in, free of judgement, not to make their hard feelings go away.

When you can be the container for your child's emotions, they will learn that they can express freely without needing to be scared of their feelings.

Remember...feelings are made to be felt, not buried inside of us. So allowing space for your kiddos to feel all their feelings is a huge gift!
